- Add New Media to the Sky
- NEWS@SKY & RSS
NEWS
@SKY is a unique system, which brings together a large number of the Internet based information portals.
Each portal, an information website, is represented in the system as a real star on the map of the sky. In many
cases, you can see the well-known logo of an information website instead of a star image.
A news column demonstrates the most recent publications of all information agencies represented on
NEWS
@SKY. This column is updated in real-time.
At this moment, NEWS
@SKY has two sections - NEWS
@SKY (SCIENCE & SPACE) and NEWS
@SKY
(WORLD MEDIA) In the future, the system will be expanded.
All presented on NEWS
@SKY media are part of the NEWS
@SKY community. Under certain circumstances,
any Internet information portal can become a member of this community. To become a member of NEWS
@SKY
an information website should:
1. be consistent with the theme of one of the NEWS
@SKY sections (at this time - of NEWS
@SKY
(SCIENCE & SPACE) and NEWS
@SKY (WORLD MEDIA))
2. obtain a star on the NEWS
@SKY site.
There are several scenarios, which make it possible to obtain a star on the NEWS
@SKY:
1. SKY-MAP.ORG Group may provide stars as a gift - a sign of gratitude for any services, or for any other reason.
2. An Information website can receive a star as a gift from the SKY-MAP.ORG group if this website is of great interest to the users of NEWS
@SKY.
3. A star can be purchased through the INHABITED SKY service. In this case, you must indicate either SCIENCE & SPACE or WORLD MEDIA while selecting a category in the process of purchase.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE: After purchasing a star through the INHABITED SKY, you can place your website LOGO on NEWS
@SKY
ONLY IF YOU CONTRIBUTED $500 OR MORE. If you contributed a smaller amount, your Web site will be displayed as a standard star symbol.
All matters related to the acquisition of a star can be discussed with a
Sky-map.org Group representative.
To access information web services, NEWS
@SKY uses the RSS Channels. If a web site does not have a RSS-channel, the news
for the web-site will not appear either in the news column or on the web-site’s star when the mouse points at it. The RSS channel's
address should be indicated in the process of a web-site registration, it can be modified or added later as well. Only one RSS-channel may be linked to each star.
NEWS
@SKY automatically reflects the news from all registered in the system RSS-channels in the news column. If the date for any "news"
article is either submitted in a nonstandard/incorrect way or at all empty, the RSS channel news cannot be displayed in the news column.
However even in this case, this web-site news are still be properly displayed and completely available while the mouse is pointing at the linked stars.
In some cases, when stars are located close to each other, one star’s logo can partially or completely obscure the logo of another. Priority is given
to a web-site with the larger amount of contribution, or to one that was registered earlier.
You can always switch your star to another one with the equivalent value or increase your contribution. To address the issue you should contact
the SKY-MAP.ORG Group by email or phone.
