Speckle interferometric observations of close binary stars. Speckle interferometric technique is employed to record a series ofhundreds of short-exposure images of several close binary stars withsub-arcsecond separation through a narrow band filter at the Cassegrainfocus of the 2.34 meter (m) Vainu Bappu telescope (VBT), situated atVainu Bappu Observatory (VBO), Kavalur, India. The data are recordedsequentially by a Peltier-cooled intensified CCD camera with 10 msexposure. The auto-correlation method is applied to determine theangular separations and position angles of these binary systems.

The Tokyo PMC catalog 90-93: Catalog of positions of 6649 stars observed in 1990 through 1993 with Tokyo photoelectric meridian circle The sixth annual catalog of the Tokyo Photoelectric Meridian Circle(PMC) is presented for 6649 stars which were observed at least two timesin January 1990 through March 1993. The mean positions of the starsobserved are given in the catalog at the corresponding mean epochs ofobservations of individual stars. The coordinates of the catalog arebased on the FK5 system, and referred to the equinox and equator ofJ2000.0. The mean local deviations of the observed positions from theFK5 catalog positions are constructed for the basic FK5 stars to comparewith those of the Tokyo PMC Catalog 89 and preliminary Hipparcos resultsof H30.

Vitesses radiales. Catalogue WEB: Wilson Evans Batten. Subtittle: Radial velocities: The Wilson-Evans-Batten catalogue. We give a common version of the two catalogues of Mean Radial Velocitiesby Wilson (1963) and Evans (1978) to which we have added the catalogueof spectroscopic binary systems (Batten et al. 1989). For each star,when possible, we give: 1) an acronym to enter SIMBAD (Set ofIdentifications Measurements and Bibliography for Astronomical Data) ofthe CDS (Centre de Donnees Astronomiques de Strasbourg). 2) the numberHIC of the HIPPARCOS catalogue (Turon 1992). 3) the CCDM number(Catalogue des Composantes des etoiles Doubles et Multiples) byDommanget & Nys (1994). For the cluster stars, a precise study hasbeen done, on the identificator numbers. Numerous remarks point out theproblems we have had to deal with.

All-sky Stromgren photometry of speckle binary stars All-sky Stromgren photometric observations were obtained for 303 specklebinaries. Most stars were in the range of V = 5-8. These data, whencombined with ratios of intensities from the CHARA speckle photometryprogram, will allow the determination of photometric indices for theindividual components of binary stars with separations as small as 0.05arcsec. These photometric indices will complement the stellar massesfrom the speckle interferometry observations to provide a much improvedmass-luminosity relationship.

ICCD speckle observations of binary stars. II - Measurements during 1982-1985 from the Kitt Peak 4 M telescope This paper represents the continuation of a systematic program of binarystar speckle interferometry initiated at the 4 m telescope on Kitt Peakin late 1975. Between 1975 and 1981, the observations were obtained witha photographic speckle camera, the data from which were reduced byoptical analog methods. In mid-1982, a new speckle camera employing anintensified charge-coupled device as the detector continued the programand necessitated the development of new digital procedures for reducingand analyzing speckle data. The camera and the data-processingtechniques are described herein. This paper presents 2780 newmeasurements of 1012 binary and multiple star systems, including thefirst direct resolution of 64 systems, for the interval 1982 through1985.

Absolute dimensions of eclipsing binaries. VI - The F-type system DM Virginis The analysis of new, accurate, and complete uvby light curves of DM Vir,a southern detached double-lined eclipsing binary with two practicallyidentical, evolved main sequence components of spectral type F6-F7, ispresented. The absolute dimensions, chemical composition, andevolutionary stage of the components are determined, as are very precisephotometric elements, including limb darkening coefficients. Above theBalmer discontinuity, the latter are 0.10-0.15 smaller than thetheoretical values. The results show that DM Vir is near the end of itsmain sequence evolution and has Hyades metal abundance. A low heliumabundance is then required to fit Hejlesen's (1980) theoretical models,with a resulting age of four billion yr.
